Peggy Lee Worthy Bivens – Obituary

Peggy Lee Worthy Bivens, 63, departed this life for the life eternal at 6:40 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Peggy was born in the New Chapel Community of Itawamba County on December 12, 1954 to the late Lemance Worthy and Marvilyne Brookman Worthy. She grew up in the Nettleton area where she had many friends and enjoyed life as a young girl. Peggy grew up attending Liberty Baptist Church with her parents and family. She ultimately made her home in Okolona much of her adult life were she was a seamstress at Indian Creek Apparel and Lucky Star Industries in Nettleton. She also made many friends as the cook at the Might Mart in Okolona. After strokes 17 years ago, she became disabled and made her residence 13 years ago a Shearer Richardson Nursing Center in Okolona. She loved arts and crafts, crossword puzzles and chatting with her family and friends. “Fine and Dandy and sweet as sugar free candy” was her response when greeted!
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Randy Lewman officiating. Private burial will follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery west of Okolona. Visitation will be from 10 AM-service time Monday only at Holland-Okolona Chapel which is honored to be serving their friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, William Bivens on March 1, 2017, her parents and a brother, Lee Junior Worthy. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters Crystal Seymore of Okolona, and Tammy Bivens; 3 sons, Jimmy Worthy of Nettleton, Hank, and Terry Bivens of the Okolona area. Her God Daughter Amanda Cooper of Pontotoc. 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 2 sisters, Judy Coplin (Harvey ) of Aberdeen and Frankie Hefner of Mooreville. a brother, Jimmy Worthy of Aberdeen. A host of nieces and nephews and her extended family from Shearer-Richardson Nursing Center in Okolona, which the family thanks for their wonderful care over the years
