Whitney Cassilly Thompson – Obituary

Whitney Cassilly Thompson, 32, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, in Tupelo. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama on April 23, 1985. She and her family moved to Tupelo in 1987 where she lived the rest of her life. Whitney was a 2003 graduate of Tupelo High School, where she played tennis. She went on to earn her Associates Degree from Itawamba Community College. Whitney worked as a freight broker in the trucking industry. Whitney will be remembered by her many friends for her contagious laughter, affectionate personality, and her love of animals, especially her dogs Berman and Niko.
Whitney married Patton Thompson in 2012. Whitney was a loving daughter and mother, and she adored her two children, Ayden and Sam. She loved watching Ayden play sports, and rarely missed a game. Bath time and arts and crafts with Sam were always a joyous occasion. Spaghetti was always on the menu when Whitney was cooking. She rarely met a stranger, and always spoke fondly of her time with friends.
Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 17, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Tupelo with Rev. Fred Britton and Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM- until service time Saturday in the Gathering Room at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Patton Thompson, son, Ayden Smith, and daughter, Sam Thompson, all of Tupelo; parents, Ruth and Bill Cassilly of Tupelo; father, Steve Stanfill of Huntsville, AL; brother, Bill Cassilly, II, of Tupelo; sister, Lauren Asters of Tupelo; grandparents, Mary Jane and Billy Hughes of Tupelo, Sue Stanfill (Roger) of Tupelo, Thomas and Doris Cassilly of College Grove, TN; in-laws, Tommy and Margaret Thompson of Tupelo; brother-in-law, Zach Thompson; grandfather-in-law, Adrian Thompson (Clara), along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Maggie Thompson Phipps.
