Mildred Mai Blalock Chandler – Obituary

Mildred Mai Blalock Chandler, 90, retired employee of The Daily Herald and resident of Brookview Circle, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at NHC Columbia.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Wilson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Ring Cemetery in the Pottsville Community. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Ring Cemetery Fund, c/o Myrtle Ring, 4381 Hardison Mill Road, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born September 8, 1927 in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Enoch C. Blalock and the late Addie Mai Ring Blalock. Mrs. Chandler retired as a tabloid inserter at The Daily Herald and had previously cooked at several Maury County restaurants, including Bucky’s. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include her nieces, Mickey Dooley and Vickey Locke; cousins, Harvey Ring, Jimmy Blalock, Bobbie Ann Roberson, Sandra Haislip, and special friend, Glenn Neathery.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Able Blalock Doggett, and a brother, John Blalock.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include her former co-workers at The Daily Herald.
