Lillian Armstrong Knight – Obituary

Lillian Armstrong Knight, 91, transformed from this earthly pilgrimage to her heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at North Miss. Medical Center Hospice Unit after an extended illness. Born in her beloved Evergreen Community of Itawamba Co. to the late Tracy and Bessie Patterson Armstrong, Lillian was forever passionate about her Armstrong and Patterson roots and all her kinfolks and the people of Evergreen and New Chapel communities. She was a regular at New Chapel Cemetery Memorial Day for most of her life. She graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School and was the widow of Bruce Knight who died in l992. They lived most of their adult life in Tupelo where they raised their son, Butch and daughter, Becky. Active and faithful members of East Heights Baptist Church for decades, Lillian enjoyed all the activities of her Church including her Lydia Sunday School Class, the Senior’s VIP activities, Game day and Bible study. Lillian loved Southern Gospel music, gatherings of any type and the Cornerstone Group in the Richmond Community. Lillian was employed several years as a seamstress at Plantersville Sportswear and retired after almost 30 years at Daybrite Lighting/Philips in Tupelo. Lillian was a jovial, engaged soul who was deeply loved by her family, her extended family and a great host of friends.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Tim Brown and Bro. Tim Williams officiating. Private burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 AM-service time Thursday only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.

Lillian leaves her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Knight Walker and husband, Larry of Albertsville, AL; her daughter in law and caregiver, Nancy Knight of Saltillo; her 4 grandchildren; Chad Walker (Lizzie), Shane Knight (Tess), Kristie Knight and Katie Ward. 4 great great grandchildren, Gage Williams and Nadalynn, Mattison and Summer Ward. Two brothers, Harry Armstrong (Peggy) of Tupelo and Bob Armstrong (Willi) of Panama City, FL. Numerous nieces, nephews and their extended families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, her son, Bro. Bruce Knight in 2012 and her siblings and their spouses, Jo Loucks (Gene), Kathleen Kelly (Merrell), Faye McDaniel (Henry) and Trace Armstrong (Lillian).

Pallbearers will be Shane Knight, Chad Knight, Jim Armstrong, Eddie Armstrong, Sammy Atkins and Junior Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael White and the Lydia Sunday School Class, Julia Tallant, Fay Cantrell, Louise Burrow, Francis Parker, Nina Kitchen, Louise kisor, and Sandra Wilson.
