Charles Herbert Jackson – Obituary

Charles Herbert Jackson 81, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Mr. Jackson was born July 10, 1936, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to Fletcher Bradon and Mattie Taylor Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Jessie Rodgers-Bud Bryan Sunday school class. He was a graduate of Deshler High School and the University of North Alabama. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from NASA where he worked on both the Apollo Space Station and Space Shuttle projects. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Jackson Johnson and mother and father-in-law, Lois and Wilson Kent, of Decatur.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Kent Jackson; one son, Charles Kevin Jackson and wife, Dena; two daughters, Jana Jackson Frost and husband, Keith; Alicia Jackson Hahn and husband, Kris; grandchildren, Emily Frost Hamilton and husband, Jeff, John Frost and wife, Jennifer, Hannah Hahn and fiancé, John Licause, Braden Hahn and wife, Franceska, Blake Carroll and wife, Meghan, Brandon Carroll and wife, Margaret; great-grandchildren, Bryce Carroll, Aidan Carroll, Steven Linley and Bronson Carroll; two sisters Martha Sherrill and Dorothy Shiver and husband, David;one brother-in-law, Dale Kent and wife, Jeannie; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday February 14, 2018, from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in the Stephenson Chapel followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Chapel with Reverend Roger Jenkins officiating. The family would like to thank the Staff of Clearview Cancer Institute, Dr. Sammy Becdach and the 1st Floor Staff at NHC Moulton for their kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to American Cancer Society Pancreatic Cancer Research, Acts 1:8 Mission at First Baptist Church or to Gideon’s International. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
