James Porter Harrison “JP” – Obituary

James Porter Harrison “JP” 81 years old passed from this life Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his residence. He was born on September 3, 1936 in Lawrence County to Porter and Evelyn Rutherford Harrison.   He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Stenson Hatton.

He is survived by Peggy Jones Harrison, his wife of sixty-one years.

He served for the United States Air Force as a parachute packer for B47s in the Korean War. He worked the majority of his career for General Electric.  His work took him and his family all over the world.

He is survived by his son, Steve Harrison (Melissa) of Hatton, daughters: Jeanne McKay (Mike), Kathy Carpenter (Clay) all of Moulton and Mary Kay Ashby (Jeff) of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Lauren Tidwell (Patrick), Wes McKay (Christine), Alex McKay (Tracey), Harrison Carpenter, Hilton, Jeffrey, Turner and Tatum Ashby.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren,  Wyatt and Wylan Tidwell and Lincoln McKay.

The family is having a graveside service on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Masterson Cemetery in Wolf Springs Community. Following the service, the family would like to welcome everyone to J.P. and Peggy Harrison’s Home for Visitation.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Pearson, Jamie Pierce, Terry Jones, Ron Smith, Randy Smith and Hutson Hatton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Gaddis, Johnny King, Tony Beavers, Herschel Louallen, Wayne Rutherford, Frank Harrison, Darrell Watson, David Berryman, Randy Harrison and Jeron Witt.

The service is being conducted by dear family friend, Mr. O’Neal Hicks.
