Bennie Jenkins – Obituary

Bennie Jenkins 92 of Gurley, born May 24, 1925 reunited with our Lord and Savior on February 9, 2018.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, one son and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife of seventy-one years Jannie Jenkins, six children Levon Jenkins (Beverly), Brenda Kent, Bonnie Gaylord (Richard), Jerry Jenkins, Alton Jenkins (Jeanie), Barbara Carisle (Mark), thirty-nine grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Bennie was a Veteran of the United States Navy and fought in World War II. He retired from the City of Huntsville Public Works and he was a founding member of the Killingsworth Cove Fire Department. He enjoyed his life in Killingsworth Cove raising a family and a garden that fed many.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Brownsboro Baptist Church. On Monday, February 12, 2018 Mr. Jenkins will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 pm and his funeral service will be at 2 pm with burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
