Mable Earline Quinn Barnette Jessup – Obituary

Mable Earline Quinn Barnette Jessup went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at the age of 94. She was born March 26, 1923. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was a woman of faith and a caregiver to her family, her friends, her daycare children, and her church family wherever she lived.

The celebration of her life was held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at the Hackleburg United Methodist Church, with burial in the Hackleburg Cedar Tree Cemetery. Rev. Elliott Gordon and Rev. Gary Yeilding officiated. Pallbearers were Vernon Britnell, James Brown III, Ron Mckinney, Walter Peck, Keith Stutts, Dr. Michael Stutts, Jimmy H. Taylor, Raymond Taylor, and Dennis Whitfield.

She was married to Henry Grady Barnette from Dec. 24, 1942, until his death in 1984 and was blessed with two children, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. They lived in Montgomery, Alabama most of their married life.

She was blessed to marry another wonderful man, Jacob E. Jessup, on Oct. 20, 1990, and lived in Canyon Lake, Texas until his death in 2011. She loved his family and was very much loved by them. The family wishes the Jessup family to know how grateful they are to them for loving their precious mother and for all they did for her while she lived there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Thomas and Myrtle Lou Pleasant Quinn; ten siblings, Maudie Taylor, Grady Quinn, Owen Quinn, Stanley Quinn, Ruby Britnell, Ruth Peck Whitfield, Bertha Whitfield Thorpe, Paul Quinn, and John D. Quinn; husband, Henry Grady Barnette; husband, Jacob E. Jessup; great-grandson, Bart Blackburn; and stepdaughter, Judy Jessup Guiterrez.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Stutts; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Quinn and Yvonne Quinn; daughter, Dorothy (Billy) Gregg; son, Lynn Barnette; grandchildren, Johnny (Maura) Gregg, Jackie Gregg (Jimmy) Laird, Billie Jean (Tim) Nix, Darius (Shari) Barnette, and Uriah Barnette; great-grandchildren, Rachel Gregg Smith, Bryan Keith Gregg, Aaron Todd Gregg, John Wesley Gregg, Zoey Ann Gregg, Elaina Cochran, Austin Laird, Kylee Grace Nix, Jaycee Barnette, and Emily Elizabeth Barnette; and two great-great-grandchildren, Carson and Sophia Smith; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by the Hamilton Funeral Home.
