Fear Of Beautiful Women…Really?

Venustaphobia is the fear of beautiful women. This phobia comes from the Roman Goddess Venus. She was associated with love and beauty and fertility. Phobia is Greek for fear.  Venustaphobia is also known as Caligynephobia, Calligyniaphobia (fear of  “of the beautiful bottom” or “of the beautiful backside”) and Venustraphobia and related to Gynephobia ( morbid fear of women or by a morbid aversion to the society of women) and Gynophobia (fear of women).

Caligynephobia, otherwise known as Venustraphobia or simply Gynephobia, is the abnormal fear of beautiful women. Sure, many men can become intimidated by gorgeous girls, and men are not the only ones who suffer from this phobia, but this condition takes intimidation to the extreme.

It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age.   The symptoms typically include extreme anxiety, dread and anything associated with panic such as shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, nausea, inability to articulate words or sentences, dry mouth and shaking.
