Ms. Flynn Marie Rimmer Murphy, 85, of Memphis passed away early Saturday February 3, 2018 in Memphis, TN. A graveside service for Ms. Murphy is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday February 9, 2018 at Peace Chapel Cemetery. Flynn was born on August 14,1932 in Decatur County, TN and was one of 12 children born to the late Connie and Lector Rimmer. She lived a modest life and was a humble and generous person who always thought of those around her before herself. She loved people which was one of the biggest reasons she loved working for Walgreen’s for 27 years. Her customers were more of friends than customers. She also loved her time at Colonial Baptist Church where she was a member and attended for many years until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Ms. Murphy enjoyed gardening and sports.
She was blessed with a loving family with her four children, 10 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a daughter, Debbie Schoonover, and seven siblings. She is survived by her three sons; John Murphy (Sondra), Ron Murphy (Deborah) and Ray Murphy (Jill), 10 grandchildren; Gary Murphy, Allison Murphy, Bryan Murphy (Shannon), Nick Murphy (Kelsey), Ryan Schoonover (Jennifer), Michael Schoonover, Kyle Schoonover, Jocelyn, Sean and Vince Murphy. She is also survived by four sisters; Ruby (William) MacBee, Ivalee (Mack) Huckabee, Jo Ethyl (Tom) VanVelzor, and Janet Brader, and one brother, K.D. Rimmer (Shelby).
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), or the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (curealz.org).
