Dewayne Lee Sloan

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement concerning the death of Daris Allen Who was murdered on Tuesday, January 30.  A second person has been charged with capital murder case:

“On Friday afternoon, February 2 Lt. Chris Slaton arrested Dewayne Lee Sloan for capital murder. Sloan Is the second person arrested for the murder of Daris Allen on Tuesday night. Sloan Lives at 1413 North Jefferson Street in Athens, he’s 39 years old. Slone’s currently being booked at the police department and will be transferred to the county jail later this afternoon.

Our investigation into this case will be continuing. However now I can release a few details about the case. From our investigation we believe Daris Allen’s wife and Antonio Jacobs had some type of a relationship. Allen was upset about that relationship. Sometime last weekend Jacobs believed Allen shot into Jacob’s residence on Cannon Road. According to Jacobs this incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Department. This was apparently the motive behind Allen being shot. I can also say this shooting was a targeted and not random shooting.

Our investigation team has worked day and night to bring this case to this point. Along with our patrol division these arrest would not have been possible without everyone’s hard work and dedication. We continue to ask if anyone has any information in this case they continue the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.”
