FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a follow up to the Identity Theft case from Thursday, February 1:

“On January 23, 2018, the Florence Police Department began receiving reports of fraudulent charges to debit/credit cards at Sam’s Club retail store.  Multiple victims described charges of a specific and similar amounts to their cards from the Florence store location.  In total, twelve local victims have been identified and we are working with Sam’s Club employees to identify any others.  It has been determined that more than thirty card numbers have been obtained and attempted to be used.

During this investigation, we have worked with Sam’s Club employees to determine who the offenders of the fraudulent charges were.  Video reviews showed that a black female traveling in a silver four door vehicle was suspected to be the offender.  On January 31, 2018, we were informed that a black female traveling in a silver vehicle was in the store.  Patrol Officers responded and located a 2017 silver Infinity QX80 leaving the parking lot.  After a short vehicle pursuit officers stopped the vehicle on County Road 47.  The vehicle was driven by Riquerdo J. Hawkins, a 34 year old black male from Atlanta, GA and the passenger was Jasmine Duckett, a 33 year old black female from Austell, GA.  A search of the vehicle revealed several items of evidence that are believed to be used in the cloning of credit/debit cards.

Further investigation revealed that both Ms. Duckett and Mr. Hawkins are responsible for several other fraudulent charges throughout the southeastern United States.  Detectives are working with multiple agencies to determine exactly how many there may be.  At this time, we have no reason to believe that this case will be related to the ATM skimmers located earlier this week.  Ms. Duckett and Mr. Hawkins remain confined in the Lauderdale County Detention Center awaiting bond.

If you, or anyone you know, has any information that can assist with this investigation, please contact Detective Michael Price at (256) 768-6504 or text a tip to 274637 using keyword “FPDTIP”, plus the message.”
