Robert Dean Parker – Obituary

Robert Dean Parker, 79, of Union Grove, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Marshall Medical Center North.
Mr. Parker was born December 3, 1938 in Russell, Kansas to Robert Dewey Parker and Helen Francis Broyles Parker. He was a 1957 graduate of Arab High School, served in the U. S. Army and the Alabama National Guard. He worked for General Motors as a machinist until his retirement in 2002. He and the former Mary Sue Light were married for 54 years. He was a member of the Union Grove Masonic Lodge and was a Mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed riding tractors, gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed studying history, especially about the U.S.S. Alabama Ship in Mobile and the Titanic.
He was a member of Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife: Sue Parker, his daughters and son-in-law: Becky Parker Rutherford and Johnny and Debbie Parker Phillips; his grandchildren: John Rutherford Jr. and Lindsey Phillips. He was preceded in death by his brother: Don Parker.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday February 2, 2018 at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church with Brothers: Robby Boyd and Eldridge Criscoe, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Joey Light, Gary Atchley, Johnny Rutherford, Marvin Dunn, David Armstrong and David Feemster.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Friday February 2, 2018 prior to the service.
