Coy Croley McGivney – Obituary

Mrs. Coy Croley McGivney, age 92 of Athens, AL passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home. Mrs. McGivney was born on June 13, 1925 in Limestone County to Henry and Alma Hughes Croley.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jerry McGivney; sister, Bobbie Putman; brothers, Bruce Croley and Tommy Croley.

Mrs. McGivney is survived by her daughters, Linda Sloan and husband Jimmy of Athens, AL and Diane Valencia and husband Rene’ of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Kristi Sloan Greenhaw (Clint), Kelli Norwood and Melesa Norwood; great-grandchildren, Jackson Seay and Connor Seay; brother, David Croley (Patricia) of Athens, AL; sister, Dot Hawk of Orlando, FL and several nieces.

Mrs. McGivney was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens where she served as the first secretary. She was also a long-time employee of Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Services for Mrs. McGivney will be at 2:00Pm Monday, January 29, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Athens with Bro. Joe Teal and Dr. Edwin Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Seay, Dr. William Davis, Mickey Laye, Mike Swanner, Chris Stone and Furney Woods.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Hospice of Limestone County.
