Erich Gottfried Konrad, age 88 of Franklin, TN passed away January 13, 2018. Erich was born on April 11, 1929 in Neuenkirchen (Stettin), Germany. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Gertraud T. Konrad. Survived by: son, Pete (Stephanie) Konrad; brother, Erwin Konrad (Rockford, IL) and sister, Anna Herta Vrueckner (Germany). He was the oldest son and one of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Konrad from Germany. Erich immigrated to Rockford, Illinois in 1952 to begin a career as a custom millworker, which he became a master of by his retirement 40+ years later. Erich loved to work with wood and craft custom stairways, cabinets for many clients in his own business of 18 years, and then for Schmeling Millwork, Rockford, IL. He married Gertraud in 1959, and the couple lived in Rockford most of their lives. In 1998, he retired and they moved to Franklin, TN to join their son and daughter-in-law who also live in Franklin. Mr. and Mrs. Konrad have been active members of Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation. They were fond of traveling to Sarasota, Florida for vacation every spring. A private memorial service will be conducted 3:30 PM Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 230 Bellevue Road, Nashville, TN 37221.
