Dessie Johnson, 99, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice. She was born May 19, 1918, to James Clarence and Beda Ford Sullins. She worked at Charm Step for 23 years and was of the Church of God faith. She loved reading, playing dominos, walking, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Sharon Brown, Bro. Curtis Shelton, and Bro. Wayne Thorn officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Cecil “Ike” Johnson (Brenda), and one daughter, Frankie Brown (Dale), all of Mantachie; five grandchildren, Brian, Lacy, Nick, Josett, and Karin; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil W. Johnson; one son, Billy Wayne Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Angel Charlotte Johnson; four brothers, Emmanuel Sullins, Bill Sullins, Dalton Sullins, and Rubel Sullins; and three sisters, Lucille Jones, Bernice Dulaney, and her twin sister Hessie Nichols.
Pallbearers will be Michael Wooldridge, Bud Duvall, Ben Brown, Tyler Windham, Frankie Lindsey, and Austin McDivitt.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
