Athens Police Arrest Trio Charge Them With Theft Of Property

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement concerning the arrest of three suspects in the attempted robbery on Monday, Janaury 22:

“This morning shortly before 2:30 the police department received a call of someone trying to steal an enclosed trailer on Adell Place. The caller described the vehicle involved as a white van with a yellow light bar on top.

Officers Jim Kennedy and Paul Richey located the van in the area of Hometown Grocery and stopped the vehicle. After the traffic stop osfficer’s determined the van was stolen the night before from Fern Street. Inside the van officer’s located evidence of burglary of storage building this weekend on Cloverleaf Drive.

Officers arrested the driver Adam Troy Chambers passengers Elizabeth Case and Bobby Peck.

Chambers was charged with receiving stolen property first degree, possession of burglary tools, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, theft of property second degree attempt and burglary 3rd degree.

Bobby Gerald Pack JR was charged with receiving stolen property first degree and theft of property second degree attempt.

Elizabeth Anne Case

was charged with receiving stolen property first degree, theft of property second degree attempt and burglary 3rd degree.

All three suspects were transported to the police department where they were booked and then transferred to the county jail. THe investigation into this case is continuing and more charges are possible.”
