TUSCUMBIA-The sculpture of Aaron Tennessee Benson opens 1 -3 p.m. January 21, 2018 . There will be a gallery talk by the artist at 1:30 p.m. on the 21st at Tennessee Valley Museum of Art located at 511 N. Water St., Tuscumbia.
The exhibit will run through March 9. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-3 p.m. on Sundays.
Benson’s exhibition focuses on the ideas of time and eternity, questions that Benson as a Christian grapples with. The works illustrate the difficulty people have believing what they cannot see and challenges viewers to think beyond the obvious. He is an assistant professor of art at the University of North Alabama where he teaches ceramics, sculpture and 3D design. He earned his MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University after obtaining his BFA in 2009 from The University of Tennessee.
