Travis “Doug” Thelton McAlister, 78-years-old, passed away Jan. 14, 2018, at Helen Keller Hospital. Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Greg Walker officiating. Burial will be at Blue Springs Cemetery.
Doug was born May 2, 1939, in Franklin County, Alabama to Travis and Dovie McAlister.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Norine McAlister and E. Lois Scott McAlister; his sister, Fayrene Wilson; his uncle, Clyde McAlister; his daughters, Mary Fuller and Ashley McAlister; his niece, Merita Cole; and his nephew, Ray Wilson.
Doug is survived by his children, Tony McAlister (Vicki), Sandy Parker, Lucy James (Michael), Vickie McAlister, Tina Ortiz, Becky White, and Baretta Saint; his brother, Olan McAlister (Betty); his grandchildren, Kristie McAlister, LaChea Ganger (Boyd), Brett Saint, Ryan Saint, Stephen McAlister (Leah), Tasha Frizzell (Allen), Craig Saint, Kody Ortiz (Jessie), Kendra Ward (Jake), Kara Campbell, Summer White, Cameron Reynoso, Joshua James, and Chasity Baker; several great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Hudean Wilson, Stephen McAlister, Brett Saint, Ryan Saint, Joshua James, and Cameron Reynoso.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bea Borden and Kody Ortiz.
