Cordie Lee Davis – Obituary

Mr. Cordie Lee Davis, age 94, a resident of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Signature Healthcare.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Elder Michael A. Norwood, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery with military honors provided by the United State Army. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on December 8, 1923 in Marshall County, Cordie was the son of the late George Davis and the late Annie Jones Davis. He served his country in the United States Army and previously worked as a maintenance engineer at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He married Helen Bellafant in 1943. Cordie was a member of Church of God in Christ. He was a farmer who loved animals, including his cows, goats, and dogs and often enjoyed bringing different animals home with him. Cordie also enjoyed gardening, antique shopping, and going to yard sales.

In addition to his wife, Helen of seventy-four years, he is survived by his daughter: Joyce Parker of Lewisburg; ninety-nine year old brother: Jones Davis the oldest living veteran in Lewisburg; sisters: Willie Mae Norwood of Columbia and Rachel Bailey of Columbia; special grandson: Freddie; grandchildren: Penney, Aser, George Jr., Gregory, Jerry, Gerod; special nephew: Jerry Freeman; and many many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: George Davis; sisters: Ida Bruce Frierson, Hazel Tucker, Savannah O’Bera Freeman, Frances Marlow; and brothers: Herbert Davis and Thomas Davis.
