Carey L. Collum – Obituary

Rev. Carey L. Collum, 70, of Florence, Alabama passed away on January 14, 2018, at his home in Florence, Alabama.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at his church, Cypress Creek Methodist in Florence. The service will follow at 2:00pm at the church, with Rev. Henry Melton, Rev. Steve Pochop, and Rev. Larry Wright officiating.

 

Carey was born May 13, 1947, in Batesburg, South Carolina. He graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School and then served in the Air Force. After the Air Force, Carey submitted his life to Christ and went on to become a minister. He has served in the ministry for 40 years, and was currently serving as pastor of Cypress Creek Methodist in Florence, Alabama.

 

He was a devoted husband, father and pastor. He enjoyed serving the Lord, being with his family and trips to the beach.

 

Carey is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debbie; daughters, Melissa Galbreath Wheat (Paul), Christi Locke; and Rebecca Veal (Jason); grandchildren, Nicholas Galbreath, Kyle, Caleb and Allie Wheat, Jessica, Heather and Jaybo Kolb, Dustin Kerr, Cameron Guthrie, Christian Locke, Emma, Easton and Everest Veal; sisters, Linda Elrod (Stan), and Cheryl Marshall (Wayne).

 

Carey was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Collum; his mother, Helen Kirkland Collum; and infant son.
