James E. Robinson, 74, resident of Booneville with many relatives and friends in the Tippah/ Prentiss Counties areas and throughout North Mississippi and retired long distance truck driver, passed away Saturday morning January 6, 2018 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville following an extended illness.
Services honoring the life of Mr. Robinson will be at 2 PM Wednesday January 17 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon officiating.
Born June 20, 1943 in Amory, Mr. Robinson was the son of the late Lonzo and Jewel Plaxico Robinson. A Baptist by faith, he received his education in the Monroe County Public School System. In earlier years was employed as a chief mechanic by the river barge industry. For 25 years Mr. Robinson was employed by the Big M Trucking Company before his retirement 2 years ago. His pleasures included fishing, traveling and pets.
Visitation for Mr. Robinson will be from 1 PM to 2 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Survivors include his children, Michael Robinson, Conja J. Ray, Juanita Ray (Keith), Bobbie Pittman (Dennis), all of Ripley, Carol Skeleton (Robert) and Wanda Bishop, both of Memphis, Lorenda Moore (Brian) of Batesville, Edward Robinson (Annette) of Como and James Eric Robinson of Pearl, a sister, Carolyn Robinson of Pisgah, a brother, Clovis Robinson of Pisgah, twenty two grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Van Donald Robinson.
The family request that memorials be directed to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd., Miami, FL 33134.
