Thurmond Ester Patrick – Obituary

Thurmond Ester Patrick, 76, of Cherokee passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Visitation will be Saturday, January 13th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Sunday, January 14th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery.

Thurmond was a native of Cherokee. He was the owner and operator of Patrick’s Garage and a member of Mhoontown United Methodist Church. Thurmond was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to fish, hunt arrowheads, and ride 4-wheelers but most of all loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Reese.

Thurmond was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Faye Patrick; son, Randy Patrick; parents, John and Martha Patrick; brothers, James and Jerry Patrick; and sister, Elizabeth Cosby.

He is survived by his son, Michael Patrick (Linda); daughters, Sandy Thompson (Daniel) and Connie Andrew; 7 grandchildren, Tabitha, Ancel, Brandi, Blake, Tyler, Britany, and Randi; 10 great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Matthew, Kaleb, Joshua, Katelyn, Landon, Addison, Lacey, Cloe, and Kaden.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Blake and Tyler Patrick, Ancel Cottingham, Matthew Harrison, Kaleb and Joshua Zills.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff of Huntsville Hospital, Cherokee Rescue and Fire, Barton Fire, Medflight, and all those who called and visited.
