TUPELO, MS – A traveler advisory is in effect for the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway from the Tennessee/Alabama line (milepost 342) to Nashville, TN (milepost 444).  A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility. Travelers should exercise caution when driving on the Parkway in this area.

Additional precipitation is in the extended forecast through Saturday, January 11, 2018, with continued icy conditions and possible snow that could affect road conditions. Current weather information is available through your local radio and television stations, or you can visit the Natchez Trace Parkway Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NatchezTraceParkwayNPS for updates.

The Parkway warns that road closures may be in effect due to hazardous conditions. Traveling around or moving barricades is a violation of federal regulations and will result in a mandatory appearance in Federal Court.  “Rangers need to focus on helping motorists affected by the storm,” said District Ranger Daniel Kimes.  “They do not need to spend time writing citations to people ignoring signs and driving around barricades.”

In the event of an emergency on the Natchez Trace Parkway, please call the Parkway Communications Center at (800) 300-PARK (7275) or 911.
