Frances Cecile Cowart Lochridge – Obituary

Frances Cecile Cowart Lochridge went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, January 10, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Walton Lochridge; her parents, Frances Will Ivy Mothershed and Cecil Daniel Cowart; and her sister, Jeffie Cowart McLemore.

Cecile grew up in Calera, AL, attended Calera High School and graduated from Alabama College (now University of Montevallo) with a BA Degree. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked at the Office of Inter-American Affairs as a Secretary and Spanish interpreter. She came home in August to marry her childhood sweetheart August 18, 1946. They moved to Auburn for Robert to complete his BS degree in Electrical Engineering. She taught piano and 5th grade while he was in school. They moved to Huntsville in 1951where she lived until her death. Cecile was very active in the First Baptist Church of Huntsville and the Hallelujah Choir. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club from 1953 until her death. She enjoyed playing bridge with her close friends.

Cecile is survived by her brother, Stephen Daniel Cowart (Betty); daughters, Joanne McCartney (Stafford), Mary Beth Priddy (Glenn) and Jane Amonett (Bill); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Huntsville for their loving care.

Visitation will be Tuesday January 16th at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church followed by a Memorial service at 3 PM with Reverend Mark Seanor officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Huntsville 600 Governors Dr. Huntsville, AL 35801 or your favorite charity.
