Mildred “Millie” Louise French McDonald, 85, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 1-3 p.m.at Colbert Memorial Chapel, Tuscumbia with services following in the funeral home chapel.  Brother Stacy Crim and David Young will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.Millie was a native of Sheffield and a member of Tri-Cities Church of Christ.  She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1950.  She worked at Roger’s Department Store in Muscle Shoals for many years and loved the customers and friends she had there. She was a prayer warrior that devoted her life to being an exemplary Christian, wife, mother, and “Meemee”. She was a poet and a huge fan of Elvis Presley and the Atlanta Braves.She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edwin “Ed” French, her mother Helen Ramsay French, and her dear sister, Helen May Garrison.She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold McDonald; daughter, Rhonda Young and husband David; daughter, Beth Sumerlin and husband Pat; and son, Hal McDonald and wife, Rhonda; Grandchildren, Erica Mayfield and husband Brandon, Maleah Hildreth and husband Rob, Scott McDonald and wife Sara, Shannen McDonald , Paul Smith, Zach Sumerlin and wife, Mandy; Great-grandchildren, Landon and Cole Hildreth,  Claire and Nora Mayfield, Grace Sumerlin, Ivar and Rama McDonald.Pallbearers include Pat Sumerlin, Paul Smith, Rob Hildreth and Brandon Mayfield.Special thanks to Dr. Jack McLendon and the nurses and staff of Helen Keller Hospital for their loving care.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association and Colbert County Animal Shelter.
