Faylene Shelnutt, 71-years-old, passed away Jan. 8, 2018, at Cottage of the Shoals. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama. The funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Darryl Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery.
Faylene was born July 20, 1946, in Lawrence County, Alabama to James Lois and Opal Marie Kerby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Audie Shelnutt; and her brothers, Danny Kerby and Wade Kerby.
Faylene is survived by her son, David Shelnutt; her siblings, Rachel Roden (Curtis), Jimmy Kerby (Patsy), Peggy Sims (Clayton), and Mikan Kerby (Jacqueline); her granddaughter, Felicia Taylor (Josh); great-grandchildren, Alayna Taylor; sister-in-law, Gloria Kerby Shelton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
