Grady Edwin Threet – Obituary

Grady Edwin Threet age 97 of Florence, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will follow in the Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Buc Chumbley officiating. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Millinea Threet, his parents Willie Lee and Annie Threet. Three brothers: Charles, Willie Lee Jr, and Dan Threet. Three sisters: Wylene Daily, Clara Rae Green and Elizabeth Darby.

Grady is survived by his son Grady “Ed” E. Threet Jr. (Mary Jane), his daughter Martha Chumbley (Buc), Four brothers: David, Jim, Donald, and Nathan Threet. Eight grandchildren: Adam and Abby Threet, Logan and Caleb Conner, David (Michelle), Catherine, Will, and Molly Chumbley. Many nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be family.

Mr. Threet was a member of College View Church of Christ where he served as a past Deacon and Elder. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Master Sergeant during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he served as Assistant Postmaster at Florence and Postmaster at Killen. After retirement, he worked with First National Bank of Florence.

He loved his country, his family especially his grandchildren and most importantly God.

The family would like to express a very special thanks to Dr. Danny McFall, Dr. Felix Morris and caregiver Jeanette Eaton.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to either Athens Bible School or Mars Hills Bible School.
