Suspect Charged With Trafficking Meth After Routine Traffic Stop

MADISON COUNTY-Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning releaed a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect on Monday, January 8 regarding trafficking of Methamphetamine:

January 8, 2018

“Sheriff Blake Dorning announced that on January 8, 2018 that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Rex Ellis Segars, W/M 59yoa, for Trafficking Methamphetamine on January 7, 2018. A Patrol Division Deputy was on duty when he observed Segars’ 1996 Chevrolet GMT-400 pick-up pulling a utility trailer on Okwood Avenue and initiated a traffic stop for traffic violations. Segars stopped at the driveway of his residence in the 100 block of McCormick Drive. During the stop a handgun and knife was located on Segars along with multiple firearms in plain view inside Segars vehicle. Upon further investigation three shotguns, six rifles, four handguns, scales, several bags of crystal white powder and a large amount of cash were located. Narcotics, Criminal and Crime Scene Investigators responded to assist and it was determined that there were $4584.00 in cash, thirteen ounces of Methamphetamine and a handgun reported stolen through this agency among the items located. Segars was arrested and placed in the Madison County Metro Jail where he remains on a $100,000.00 bond for this charge; however bond has been revoked in two previous charges. All property was collected as evidence and taken to Criminal Investigations Division. Segars faces additional charges of Receiving Stolen Property and other charges.”
