Glenda Faye Rickard Weir, 79, of Florence, passed away on January 06, 2018.  She was a member of Alabama Education Association and Killen United Methodist Church. She influenced many students for 32 years as a teacher at Brooks High School.  She was a dedicated member of Killen United Methodist Church who served as a piano and organ accompanist, Sunday school teacher and choir member over the years.

She loved the Lord, beautiful music and the written Word. She instilled an appreciation for love, kindness and mercy in each person she encountered. Along with her beloved husband, Marvin, they loved and protected their children with fierce devotion and a strong guiding hand.

Robert Frost once wrote, “Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.” She provided that home to everyone who knew her, and now, she has been taken into the Home that she longed for.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 Noon.  A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Bryan McIntyre officiating.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Weir; parents, Guy Rickard and Mattie Mae Rickard; and brother-in-law, Hoyt Staggs.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Lee Weir (Amanda); daughter, Mary Beth Weir; sister, Kay Rickard Staggs; and grandchild, Annagrace Rosa Weir.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Staggs, Matt Gristina, Clay Staggs, Nathan Staggs, Bob Dolan and Jordan Gist.
