Joyce Jeffreys Willis – Obituary

Joyce Jeffreys Willis, 81, of Hatton passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at her residence. Visitation will be from 4 till 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the funeral home with Dr. Greg Beasley and Bro. Ted Vafeas officiating. Burial will be in Hardshell Cemetery.

Born on September 16, 1936 to the late Edard and Gladys Jeffreys, Joyce attended Hatton High School. Throughout her life, she has served as a choir member, soloist, pianist, organist, Youth Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and Home Bound Ministry team member and was a singer for the Happy Five Gospel Quartet. Joyce was currently a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Tuscumbia.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Melvin “Jack” Willis; daughter, Paula Graham (Greg) of Sylvania; granddaughter, Ashley Graham; grandson, Logan Graham (MaKayla); brothers, Edard Jeffreys, Jr., James Jeffreys (Bobbie), and Gary Jeffreys; five nephews and eight nieces.

Pallbearers will be Jim Willis, Jason Willis, Paul Willis, Jared Willis, David Jeffreys, and Hunter Harper. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Boyd, Don Bradford, Johnnie Willis and Joe Willis.

The family offers special thanks to Southern Care Hospice and her sitters, Kay Hallmark and Gayla Lewis.
