FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama’s fourth annual will take place Monday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. – Noon, in the Guillot University Center on UNA’s campus.
The event is being planned in conjunction with the national MLK Service Day and is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the Shoals community to come together and honor Dr. King, while also serving those in need.
Bethany Green, assistant director for Student Engagement, said this year students and members of the community will have an opportunity to help out local food pantries.
“Volunteers will be packaging food in an interactive and exciting environment,” said Green. “It will be, ‘A Day On, Not A Day Off,’ and a great way to honor and remember Dr. King,” she said.
Check-in at the GUC Performance Center will take place between 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.; the welcome will take place from 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m., followed by the packaging project from 11 a.m.- Noon. The first 300 volunteers will receive a free MLK Service Day t-shirt for participating.
