Elizabeth O. Wooten – Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth O. Wooten, age 82, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018.

Mrs. Wooten was born in Vina, AL, on April 24, 1935, daughter of the late Marvin A. Oliver and Katie Taylor Oliver. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 1975, moving back here from the Chicago, IL, area. Mrs. Wooten was an active member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she was an entrepreneur, having owned and operated several local businesses including Interiors by Elizabeth and most recently, Gifts and Goodies on Broad Street. Mrs. Wooten was a member of the Quota International of Rome where she was named Quotarian of the Year in 2015, the Spade and Trowel Garden Club and the Rome Area Writers Association. She was an accomplished and published author and volunteered with the Rome Area History Museum.

Mrs. Wooten was married to the love of her life, Thomas Edward Wooten, on September 29, 1951, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2017. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Bertha Ozment.

Mrs. Wooten is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gary Bumpass of Houston, TX, and Pam and Ken Morrow of Suwanee, GA; four grandsons and their wives, Jason and Becky Morrow, Joshua and Vicki Morrow, Johnny Bumpass, and Justin and Kristin Bumpass; one brother, Tommy Oliver and sister-in-law, Nell Oliver of Centre, AL; brother-in-law, L.V. Ozment; and close relative, Faye Holland of Russellville, AL. She is greatly loved and survived by her eight great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wooten will be held on Saturday morning, January 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. David Nance officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

On Sunday, January 07, 2018, Mrs. Wooten will be carried to Vina, AL where she will be laid to rest beside her husband with graveside services being held at Pilot Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. CST.
