Natchez Trace Parkway Undercover Operation Results in Five Arrests

HEADQUARTERS TUPELO, MS – On December 23 and 24, 2017, Natchez Trace Parkway Law Enforcement Rangers conducted operations to detect and apprehend people engaging in illegal activity and disorderly conduct in certain parking lots and hiking trails along the Parkway. These operations resulted in the arrest of five individuals.

In Mississippi, Brian Cartwright of Marietta was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. Louis Newcombe of Fulton, Jerel Scott and Jerry Burke, both of Tupelo, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. In Tennessee, Irie Shackleford of Cordova, was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

“This successful operation is part of our continuing efforts to keep those using the Parkway for legitimate purposes as safe as possible. These operations will continue and be a priority for 2018,” stated Chief Ranger Sarah Davis.
