A celebration of Life for Fernan O’Keith Elliott Sr., 52, of Decatur, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Garner Memorial C.M.E. Church with Pastor Steven Little officiating and inhumation in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be today from 3-7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Fernan was born May 24, 1965, the youngest of four children to the late Ophelia Jewel Morrow, in Lawrence County, Alabama. He departed this life on Dec. 28, 2017, at Erlanger Baroness Hospital, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He joined Garner Memorial CME Church at an early age.

“Kickaboo”, as he was affectionately known, was reared in Decatur, Alabama. He was a 1983 graduate of Austin High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1984, and furthered his education in trade school while enlisted. He was honorably discharged in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; and a daughter, Sylvia Angel Elliott.

His loving memory will be cherished by a devoted wife, Mrs. Sammatha Elliott; three sons, Fernan Elliott Jr., Lorenza Elliott and Cortez (Alexis) Elliott; two grandchildren, XaVier Elliott and Evelyn Elliott; one brother, Roderick (Connie) Garth; two sisters, Jewel (Reverend Rex) Jarman and Chandra Garth; three nieces, LaKenya Owens, Chantina Garth, and Rexchelle Jarman; four nephews, Quinton Owens, Tronorris Owens, Tyron Garth, and Rex Jarman Jr.; cousins, Judith Mills, Jacqueline Sanford, Jeffery Sanford, Lula (Pertis) Ayers, and James “Sonny” Elliott Jr; a loving in-law family in California; and other relatives and many friends young and old.
