Arthur Wilburn Slaten – Obituary

Arthur Wilburn Slaten, 76 of Huntsville, formerly of Arab, died Sunday December 31, 2017 at Crestwood Medical Center.
Mr. Slaten was born March 28, 1941 in Marshall County to Arthur Verbon Slaten and Elaine Baugh Slaten. He worked as a Lumber Broker for North Alabama Wholesale Lumber and was semi-retired. He and the former Martha Albright were married for 53 years. Mr. Slaten enjoyed playing Golf, hunting and fishing and loved Alabama Football.
He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife: Martha A. Slaten; his son Jeff Slaten; his brother and sister-in-law: Winford W. Slaten and Jane; his sister and brother-in-law: Barbara Sims and Dale; several nephews and a niece and his grandchild Tiffany the Cat. He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur Verbon Slaten and Elaine Baugh Slaten and his brother: Thomas H. “Toby” Slaten.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday Januray 3, 2018 at New Friendship Baptist Church with Brothers: Jerald Adams and John Tuck, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Shane Slaten, Ashley Moore, Christopher Moore, Harold Baugh, Dan Poole and Ralph Fullerton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons: Gary Knight, Gene Buchanan, Jim Lowery and Rickey Stewart.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to New Friendship Baptist Church PO Box 648 Arab Al 35016.
