Lynn R. Nixon, 94, of Iuka, MS, died Monday, January 1, 2018, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka. She was a member of the Iuka United Methodist Church, and was very active in D.A.R. She was known for her work with flower arrangements, which was evident with her IKEBANO flower arrangements. She was noted in the Alabama and Tennessee garden clubs. She also enjoyed playing bridge and fishing. Lynn obtained her degree in Home Economics at the University of Mississippi. She did her post graduate work in education at Blue Mountain College and Ole Miss. While attending Ole Miss, she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society for Educators. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Iuka United Methodist Church in Iuka, officiated by Rev. J.B. Burns. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Shelby Daniel, Reid Daniel, Michael Osborn, Van Hazlett, Roger Byrd, John Castleberry, Mike McRee, and Donnie Brown. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Iuka United Methodist Church in Iuka. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. She is survived by her son, Shelby “Cliff” Daniel (Nancy); her daughter, Lynn “Pat” Daniel Escott (Colin); her sister, Annett Reid Roan (Richard); her grandchildren, Shelby Daniel (Jill), Reid Daniel (Lauren), Brittany Osborn (Michael), and Haley Hazlett (Van); her great grandchildren, Mason, Bailey, Sam, Fulton, Patton, Hayden, Harper, and Owen; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Clifton Burress and Pansy Lynn Tibbits Reid; her first husband, Sam Daniel; and her second husband, James Fred “Jim” Nixon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Iuka Heritage Inc., also known as “The Little Church”, at P.O. Box 165, Iuka, MS 38852.
