Father of Muscle Shoals Music… Rick Hall – R.I.P. – VIDEO

MUSCLE SHOALS – FAME Recording Studios owner and music legend, Rick Hall, 85 passed away this morning after suffering from declining health in recent months. Hall was the biggest influence on the success of the Muscle Shoals music industry. His first hit record, Arthur Alexander’s, “You Better Move On”, released in 1961, put FAME and Muscle Shoals, Alabama on the map as one of the premier recording venues in the world.

Hall was the subject of the 2013 documentary,  “MUSCLE SHOALS”. This film solidified his standing as one of the giants of Rhythm ‘n Blues, Rock and Soul music.

As the documentary was being released in 2013, The quad-Cities Daily interview Rick hall and Swamper Jimmy Johnson (who got his start at FAME).

This video is with Swamper, Jimmy Johnson about Hall and his influence on Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, that Johnson, Barry Beckett, Roger Hawkins and David Hood founded after their stint at FAME Studios.
