Bobby Barnes – Obituary

Bobby Barnes passed from this life to eternal life on December 28, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Bobby was born December 8, 1952, to O.B. (Burl) and Ruby Boren Barnes of the Ozark community. Bobby was an employee of FMC for more than two decades and ended his longtime sales career with Hewitt Robbins in June 2017. During his time with FMC and Hewitt Robbins, he formed close friendships all around the United States.

The mark Bobby left on the Ozark and Houston communities is tremendous. He served as a deacon at Ozark Baptist Church where he was a life-long member. He was a founding member of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department as well as multiple neighborhood watch programs in Itawamba County.

Bobby was a proud alumnus of Itawamba Community College and Ole Miss. He served as a member of various advisory boards for ICC. Also, he had tremendous success in his work to increase scholarship endowments for ICC.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 31, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. James Young and Bro. Dempsey Rowland officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wanda Lesley Barnes; his son, Walt, and daughter-in-law, Catherine Barnes, of Picayune, MS; two granddaughters, Izzy and Lottie Barnes; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Ruby Barnes.

Bobby cherished the faith family of Ozark Baptist Church with all his heart and desired for all members to be honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, December 30, at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
