George Hollis “Bud” Fuller – Obituary

George Hollis “Bud” Fuller, age 90, of Russellville, left to go to his heavenly home on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at ECM Hospital.

Mr. Fuller was a lifelong resident of Russellville. He was a graduate of Russellville High School where he enjoyed playing football. He was a graduate of University of Alabama and attended Graduate School of University of Alabama Law School of Birmingham. He was a devoted son, husband, and father. He took great joy in singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and riding his bicycle. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville.

He worked in his early years as a District Sales Manager for four states with Tupelo and Premium Candy Companies. He worked over ten years in law enforcement and was nominated Officer of the Year for Russellville Police Department. He was later an Assistant Director and Admissions Counselor for Alabama Christian College of Montgomery, Florence, and Huntsville, Alabama.

The visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Russellville, with the funeral following at 2 p.m. Brother Patrick Martin will officiate the service and burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Boyd Fuller; dear friend and wife of a brief marriage, Evelyn Bragwell Fuller; parents, Chester A. Fuller and Mossie Willis Fuller; sisters, Chesteen Fuller and Dorothy Fuller Hovater.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, George Jeffrey “Jeff” Fuller; daughter, Julie Fuller Gargis (husband, David); grandchildren, David Isaac Gargis, Evan Fuller Gargis, Patrick Jeffrey Gargis, Michael Cody Fuller; nieces, Willodean Hovater Davis (husband, Ellis), Susie Hovater Malone; nephew, Willard C. Hovater (wife, Carolyn); and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be his grandsons, David Isaac Gargis, Evan Fuller Gargis, Patrick Jeffrey Gargis, Michael Cody Fuller, Milton Gordon Boyd, and Roger Dale Boyd.

The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Webb, Dr. Morris, and the CCU Nurses at ECM. Also a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Russellville Health Care for your love and care of our father.
