FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a statement concerning a call to a Florence residence where shots had been fired on Thursday, December 21. One person was arrested on an Alias Warrant from Lauderdale County:
“At approximately 4:45pm on 12/21/17, officers received a call of shots fired at 307 N Fulton St. When officers arrived they found that the home owner had been assaulted.
The victim stated that the offender assaulted him and then left the scene in a vehicle going south towards Huntsville Rd. The grandson of the victim then came outside the residence and fired a weapon at the offender as he was leaving the scene.
No arrest have been made at this time, our detectives are still working the case to determine the extent of the injuries of the victim and to talk to the offender. No one was struck when the gun was fired. The victim was assaulted with a wooden bat.
One person that was involved was arrested on Lauderdale County Alias Warrants, Jared Byrd, W/M 24yoa.”
