FLORENCE-The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library has a lot going on in the month of January. here are just a few events in store for you.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Panel Discussion

Introduction to Korea and K-pop

What is K-pop? It’s short for Korean Pop, and it’s expanding to the United States. K-pop isn’t just pop music, but a collection of different genres, including ballad, rap, R&B, rock, and hip hop. This presentation will explore the music, choreography, and visual stylings of some of the most popular K-pop groups. For more information, call 256-764-6564, ext. 28.

The Wade Hall Collection: The Exhibits, The Postcards, and the Stories

Mrs. Ruth Elder from Troy University will give a presentation about the Wade Hall Historical Building Postcards Exhibit, which is on display at FLPL throughout January.

The presentation will be an overview of Dr. Hall’s collection of over 25,000 vintage postcards, the creation of the postcard exhibits, and stories of the Alabama represented by these historic cards. The exhibition consists of two parts: the traveling exhibits and the digital exhibit. The Historical Buildings exhibit includes courthouses, post offices, schools, and churches throughout the state. Mrs. Ruth Elder, Troy University Cataloging Librarian, is the main researcher, writer, and organizer for the Wade Hall Postcard Traveling Exhibits. She has two masters degrees and over 35 years of library experience. She moved to Alabama in 2009 and has thoroughly enjoyed learning the history of her adopted state.
