FLORENCE-The body found in the aftermath of the Sunday morning fire has been identified as that of John Kalama, 81 of Florence.
The body was found after the fire had been brought under control. The fire occurred i the 100 block of Whisperwood Trail located in the Briarcliff Subdivision off of Jackson Road in Florence.
According to authorities Kalama was not a resident of the home. Officers say the residence was occupied by a woman and her three children and according to Firefighters at the scene they were uninjured.
Police said the woman who lived at the residence and Kalama were acquaintances, as they had worked together.
Kalama was prounannced dead at the scene and the body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics in Huntsville for an autopsy.
An investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s Office and a Florence fire inspector are working with police.
