FLORENCE-Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center celebrated a newly renovated, skilled nursing facility and introduced a brand new memory care unit, The Veranda on Thursday, November 7.

The Shoals Chamber was on hand to help out with the celebration by hosting a ribbon cutting. There was food and door prizes and a tour of the new unit.

Now a little more about Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and The Veranda:

“The renovations and additions at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are designed to improve the patient/ resident experience, staffing efficiencies, and overall appearance. The renovation project has addressed areas all throughout the entire facility. Our top priority is to give continuous care, and there’s nothing better than a quality environment to provide such care in.

The two main entrances were updated with larger new canopies and new centrally located welcome desks offer visitors and residents a primary location for assistance. The relocated and reconstructed nurse stations provide a central location for all activity of the new units. Dining and living spaces centered around the nurse stations provide a space for patients and residents to socialize, or to organize small functions with family members.

We are very proud to be offering a brand new memory care unit “The Veranda- Speciality Care Unit.” This is a 36 bed unit offered to males and females and focuses on providing 24-hour supervised care with meals, activities, and health management for residents with memory concerns such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The goal is to enable them to retain the highest level of capabilities for as long as possible. The specialty care unit provides a large inside secured space and covered patio to allow residents to stroll freely. Freedom helps maintain self-esteem, one of the driving forces of contentment for those with memory concerns.

At our newly improved facility, care is personalized, administered on a 24-hour basis, and provided in a warm and friendly environment. The updates will greatly benefit our residents who currently reside at Mitchell-Hollingsworth and or new memory care will benefit those to come.

Construction was completed by Rives Construction with design provided by TurnerBatson Architects.”
