TUSCUMBIA-Colbert County Schools now has an education foundation.  The foundation has been in the works for the 18 months. The Shoals Chamber along with the Colbert County School Board celebrated the advent of the foundation with an old-fashioned ribbon cutting.

Now a little about the foundation:

“Our system, like others, gets federal and state money but they also dictate how the money is spent,” said Matt Dalrymple, Grant Writer and Public Relations Director for Colbert County Schools. “Foundation money that is raised goes directly to meet needs in the classroom. It doesn’t have strings attached.”

The foundation will disperse money through teacher grants, he said, adding that programs in the district that don’t have funding streams could also be supplemented through the foundation. Dalrymple said he hopes to see new, innovative programs as a result of the foundation’s help.

Congratulations to Colbert County Schools, Dr. Gale Satchel, and team. The Shoals Chamber is proud to see such an investment in our future Shoals-area leaders!

The Shoals Chamber was on hand to capture the event in photos.  We are pleased to present them to you here:
