James Lamar Lott – Obituary

James Lamar Lott passed away at home on Dec. 5, 2017. He was born to MJ and Maggie Lott on July 3, 1929.He was preceded in death by his son, John Barrett, his parents and eight siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edna Martin Lott; children, Annette Lott Gray, New Orleans, Louisiana, Michelle Lott, Decatur and Lamar Lott (Rhonda), Killen; three grandchildren, Lindsey Schwieker ( Jeff ), Auburn, Evan Lott, Centerville, Virginia and Allison Lott, Killen; and three great-grandsons, Eli, Owen and Hinton Schwieker.

He served in the U.S. Army 1950-1952. He retired from the Decatur Fire Department in 1994 after 35 years of service.

Family will receive friends at their home today at 5177 Danville Road. Funeral services will be noon Friday with visitation one hour before at Basham United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve McCurry and Rev. Tom Elder officiating.

Pallbearers will be Evan Lott, Jeff Schwieker, Lynn Ragland, Charles Heard, Ted McCaghren and Nick Stover. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Lott and Norris Turney.
