James Fennel Sandlin, Jr. – Obituary

Mr. James Fennel Sandlin, Jr., age 76 of Tanner, AL passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 after a hard fought battle with Renal Cancer. He was a loving husband, father, and Grandfather “Pop.”

Services for Mr. Sandlin will be 3:00 PM Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Casey Harbin of West View Church of Christ officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Athens City Cemetery.

Jim was born in Tanner to James “Doc” and Julia Lois Sandlin on October 9, 1941. He went to school at Tanner high School. He married Janie “Sue” Carter on August 31, 1963 in Limestone County. He worked as a pipe fitter for TVA. He served in the Army 82D Airborne Division and was honorably discharged.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James “Doc” Sandlin and his mother Lois Hannah Sandlin.

He is survived by his beautiful bride of 54 years, Janie Sue Sandlin; son, James “Tracy” (Cheryl) Sandlin, brothers, George (Shirley) Sandlin, Larry (Sue) Sandlin, Harry (Kathy) Sandlin;
grandchildren, Brystal (Nick) Suozzo and Forrest Sandlin; one great-grandchild Jesse Suozzo.
Pallbearers will be Nick Suozzo, Johnny Vassar, Frank McGee, Max McGee, Chris Southard and Jim McNairy.

The family of Jim wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hospice of Limestone County, especially Jessica, Sharon, Hillary, Jennifer and Doris.
