Athens Police Arrest Three On Seperate Warrants

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning three arrests on Tuesday, November 5 :

Kendrick Lamont McCord

“Kendrick Lamont McCord was arrested yesterday on a warrant for robbery 2nd degree. On October 23, 2017, McCord and 2 other induvials approached the victim in the parking lot of Burger King on South Jefferson Street. They ask the victim to carry them to Wal-Mart to obtain a money order. When they returned to Burger King the victim was attacked and his keys were taken from him. The offenders then got into the victim’s car and left going north on Jefferson Street.

The same night Investigator Kelly Fussell received a call from Metro Nashville police department. One of their officers had located the stolen car. When they stopped the car McCord ran but was quickly apprehended. The driver was also taken into custody by Nashville officers.

McCord was transported to the police department and booked. He was later transferred to the county jail.”

Cameron Oshai Witt

“Cameron Oshai Witt was arrested yesterday on a grand jury warrant for Assault 1st degree. Witt was indicted for shooting a 56 year old male in the leg on August 14, 2017. The incident took place on Acorn Hill Circle. The victim told officers he was inside his residence when he heard his screen door open. The victim then opened the door to see what was going on. He said a male in a hoodie was standing at his door with a gun pointed at him. A struggle broke out and the male then shot the victim in his leg and took off running. Later that night the victim told Investigator Jonathan Caldwell Whitt was the one that shot him. Whitt was transported to the police department and transferred to the county jail.”

Kenneth Wayne Jefferson

“Kenneth Wayne Jefferson was arrested yesterday on a warrant for assault 2nd degree. Jefferson assaulted an acquaintance on November 4, 2017 on Cedar Street. The victim told investigator Mickey Hart he ask Jefferson and another person to leave a house he was in. He victim said he went to the bathroom and when he walked out Jefferson and the other person assaulted him. The victim had several teeth knocked out and his eye was swollen shut. The investigation into this case is continuing and more arrest is expected.”
