Dora Frances Luther – Obituary

Dora Frances Luther, 81, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at Countrywood Plantation in Mantachie. She was born September 20, 1936, to Aubrey Carl and Mary Bain Boren. She worked for the Lee County Superintendent of Education’s office before finishing her career in the financial aid department at Itawamba Community College. She was an active member of Mantachie United Methodist Church and a member of the Pilot Club. She enjoyed painting and was an avid Mississippi State football fan.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, at the Mantachie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Goodwin and the Rev. Joe Coggins officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Brian Long (Kim) of Fulton; two grandchildren, Jake Long of Senatobia and Erin Long of Oxford; and one brother, Aubrey Lindon Boren (Lillian) of Mantachie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy K. Luther, who died September 23, 2014; her parents; one brother, Kenneth “Buddy” Boren; and one sister, Ruth Boren.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at Mantachie United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mantachie United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dawn Baker, the staff of Countrywood Plantation, and the staff of Camilla Hospice.
