Melvin Larry “Pap-Pap” Focht Jr., 80 of Somerville, the West Point Community, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Diversicare of Big Springs in Huntsville.
Mr. Focht was born July 29, 1937 in Tyrone Pennsylvania to Melvin Larry Focht Sr. and Helen Goff Fotch. He was employed by IBM as an I.T. Technician until his retirement. He and the former Paulette Irvin were married for 33 years. He and his wife cared for foster children; he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Focht had a passion for music and was the organist at his church.
He was a member of Life Gate Baptist Church.
Mr. Focht is survived by his wife: Paulette Irvin Focht; his son: Keith Marlar; his daughter and son-in-law: Amanda Boardman and Brad; his brother: Rich Focht and two sisters; his grandchildren: Michael Norris, Matthew Norris, Lauren Marlar and Ali Marlar and great grandchild: Nova Norris.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 6, 2017 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel and Brindlee Mountain Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Brindlee Mountain Chapel prior to the service.
